ILADD Providing Free Legal Assistance to Vulnerable Individuals

ILADD Family Connect Details

The purpose of ILADD Family Connect is to bring together families of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to form a group to share and discuss information to help move our self-advocates toward greater independence. Self-advocates and their parent/caregivers are encouraged to attend.

The first meeting will be held in-person at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 in Room A/B of  Weitzel Hall at Saint Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 West Oak Street, Zionsville, Indiana. The meeting topic is Hope for the Journey to Independence” with a focus on the following questions:

  • What are the self-advocates’ hopes for his/her future?
  • What are the parents/caregivers’ hopes for their self-advocate’s future?
  • What action steps need to be taken to achieve those hopes?
  • Who should be on the self-advocate’s support team?

Featured speakers/facilitators at the meeting include:

  • Katie Shaw- self-advocate
  • Justin Reid- self advocate
  • Michele Gray- behavior consultant for Tangram with over twenty years of experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Kim Harvey- employment consultant for Best Buddies Indiana

A break-out session will be held during the meeting to allow self-advocates to connect with other self-advocates and share information, while a similar meeting occurs allowing the parents/caregivers to connect and share information.
