ILADD, Inc.

ILADD, Inc. (Independent Living for Adults with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities) is an Indiana 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in October 2019 with a mission to provide housing, enrichment/educational programs, and social options that enable adults with IDD to live in homes of their own and enjoy fulfilling and meaningful lives in their communities. We are based in Zionsville.

We began as a couple of families looking for supportive housing options for our sons close to us in central Indiana. We learned quickly that our options were pretty limited and not really what our sons or we wanted. In the Fall of 2019, we listened to a presentation on an intentional community for adults with disabilities and participated in a workshop with consultants who help families like us create our own options. From that we were inspired to set forth on a journey to build our own community.

We formed a board of directors comprised of a highly-experienced and well-respected team of professionals from across multiple industries including two self-advocates. We engaged a disability housing consultant to guide us through the process of creating our own community. We also formed a self-advocate and family advisory council to inform and guide us on what adults with IDD need and want for safe, supportive, affordable housing, and what they want for enrichment/educational and social options.

ILADD’s mission is to provide housing, enrichment, and social options for adults with IDD.

ILADD’s mission is to provide housing, enrichment, and social options for adults with IDD.

ILADD’s initial housing project, Crossbridge Point, will be an affordable, walkable community that embodies home, choice, and security for 40-60 adults with and without IDD. We plan to include a 12,000 square foot Community Center that serves Crossbridge Point residents and the greater community with specialized and general recreation and provides a venue for events, meetings, health and wellness, and cultural and life enrichment.

ILADD’s enrichment/educational programming is designed to enable individuals with IDD to acquire the skills to transition toward more independent living, explore vocational opportunities, pursue their educational interests, and integrate fully with the community.

ILADD’s social opportunities include Book Club, Hiking Club, and Game Nights for adults with IDD as well as informational workshops and tutorials for families, support providers, and others in the community on issues such as how to obtain an HCBS waiver, navigating SSI/SSDI/Medicaid, ABLE accounts, special needs trusts, and financial planning. In addition to ILADD-developed sessions, some sessions will be provided in partnership with other organizations.
