Old Town Land Donation to ILADD

ILADD to Receive Donation of Land for Its Crossbridge Point Residential

Community for Adults with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities

ZIONSVILLE, INDIANA (March 13, 2023) – ILADD (Independent Living for Adults with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities), an Indiana nonprofit, announced today it has entered into an agreement with Old Town Companies for the donation of land by Old Town for ILADD’s Crossbridge Point residential community. The parcel is integrated within Old Town’s proposed 260-acre master planned Wild Air development on Marysville Road in Zionsville that was recently filed with the Town of Zionsville.

ILADD was founded in 2019 to provide housing, enrichment/educational programs, and social options that enable adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) to live in homes of their own and enjoy fulfilling and meaningful lives in their communities. ILADD’s initial housing project, Crossbridge Point, will be a safe, affordable, neurodiverse neighborhood of about 20 beautifully-designed for-sale residences for individuals with and without IDD that embodies home, choice, and security. Crossbridge Point will also feature a community center where ILADD will hold independent living classes, programs, and social gatherings.

“We are extremely grateful to Old Town for their generosity and commitment to supporting ILADD’s mission and adults with IDD within their Wild Air development,” said Matt Fultz, ILADD executive director. “The demand is there…we have more than 125 individuals on our Interest List. While awaiting final approval of the Wild Air development, we will be surveying and convening listening sessions with our interested adults with IDD and their families to refine what they want to see included in Crossbridge Point which we can then discuss with our design and operations teams.”

“We are truly honored to partner with ILADD in an effort to serve some of our most vulnerable neighbors within the community. Incorporating Crossbridge Point into the master plan for the proposed Wild Air development will make a small, but meaningful contribution to the undersupply of housing for marginalized citizens in Indiana,” commented Justin Moffett, CEO of Old Town Companies. “This is Old Town’s second opportunity to create a community that addresses housing needs for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD), and it is our hope that by developing attainable housing opportunities within walking distance to neighborhood amenities the residents will be able to experience meaningful employment in addition to housing, which is the aim of sustainability. Our team is continually inspired by the dedication of the ILADD leadership, and we are excited to see the positive impact this development will have on the community.”

“Crossbridge Point is another important step toward greater inclusion of individuals with IDD and achieving ILADD’s mission,” stated ILADD president, Tom Easterday. “ILADD already serves over 100 adults with IDD through a wide variety of independent living classes, clubs, programs, and social options. Crossbridge Point will provide an excellent housing option for adults with IDD who choose to live independently in their own home and an opportunity for them to utilize and grow their independent living skills in a neighborhood with easy access to employment, social and recreational opportunities in the Wild Air development and the Zionsville and Whitestown communities.”

The Need for Housing for Adults with IDD

A part of ILADD’s mission is to address the fact that there are far more adult residents of Indiana with IDD – 49,244 1 – than there are safe, affordable, supportive residential settings. In Indiana, 73 percent of adults with IDD still live with a family caregiver, and even more concerning is that 24 percent of adults with IDD in Indiana are being supported by caregivers age sixty and older 2 .
