Participants will learn basic kitchen skills, explore new recipes, and practice healthy eating habits in a supportive, engaging environment. Each session encourages independence, builds confidence, and offers a great opportunity to make new friends while creating delicious meals. We attempt to provide one volunteer for every two self-advocates in the class to provide hands-on support. No cooking skills are needed to participate in this class as we will have opportunities to include any self-advocate from the novice cook to those already cooking independently and wanting to learn additional skills. Registration is required. Each class will be limited to the first 12 self-advocates who register. If you attempt to register and the class is full you will be put onto the Cooking Class Wait List for a later class/date.

Mobile Banking Workshop

Monday, 6/9 Mobile Banking Workshop at The ILADD Sunshine Barn (4025 Whitestown Parkway) from 6:30–8:00pm. We’re excited to kick off financial education classes with a Mobile Banking Workshop led by our community partners at PNC. This engaging, hands-on session will introduce you to mobile banking—what it is, how it works, and how it can help build financial independence. Participants will learn how to safely and effectively use mobile banking apps to check balances, make deposits, pay bills, and track spending. We’ll discuss when it’s appropriate to use mobile banking and when an in-person visit to the bank might still be needed. For many self-advocates who rely on others for transportation, understanding mobile banking can be a powerful step toward greater independence and control over their finances. Parents and caregivers who assist with money management are encouraged to attend and learn alongside participants.

Anyone attending will meet at the designated seats and must be able to navigate from the parking area to the seats on their own or with the necessary supports. Tickets can be picked up at upcoming ILADD events or mailed directly to you.
