ILADD Family Connect - Review and Discussion: "Mental Health Awareness"
Date & Time: Thursday, April 21st from 6:30-8 pm
Location: Ascension St. Vincent Room at the Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 West Oak Street, Zionsville, Indiana
Description: Mental Health Awareness and Care: Connections and Resources
We will continue the discussion of the importance of wellbeing, with a specific focus on the active pursuit of activities, choices, and lifestyles that lead to wellness. We will provide specific strategies for improving the wellness of both persons with IDD and their caregivers. We will have professionals in the field offer information about specific ways to connect with needed services and resources (including, but not limited to mental health counseling, music therapy, recreational therapy, friendships and socialization skills, occupational supports, as well as nutritional and physical pursuits).
This event will include a presentation by Gwen Chesterfield and Maggie Brown from the IUPUI SITE program followed by introductions to a variety of professionals and organizations that offer services to those with IDD and who are caregivers to persons with IDD. These professionals and organizations will be available in a transition fair type of setting so attendants can interact, seek information, and learn about therapeutic and social opportunities.
Register: This event is free and a part of ILADD’s mission to help self-advocates along the path to greater independence. Register by emailing Michele Gray at program.manager@iladdinc.org
