Our next ILADD Hiking Club hike is scheduled for Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. The north entrance to Eagle Creek Park is on West 71st Street (just west of I-65 as you enter the park 71st Street becomes Eagle Creek Parkway).

At the park’s gatehouse, you will need to pay a park entry fee ($7 per vehicle or $6 per vehicle if you are a Marion County resident; if you would like to be reimbursed by ILADD please get a receipt and give it to Tom Easterday). Then, proceed to the Lilly Lake Shelter parking area (the same place we parked for some past hikes, including March 2023 and March 2024). We will meet there to begin the hike. We will primarily be hiking a new route along the Green Trail. Should be a nice hike through the woods.

ILADD Hiking Club is for adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities who can walk at least 2-3 miles, up and down hills, on uneven ground, and on unpaved trails. All hikers should bring their own water bottles. It is recommended that everyone bring a change of shoes and socks for after the hike because it may get muddy if it rains within a day or two before the hike. Since it is mid-August, be prepared for warm weather (average August temperatures in Indianapolis range from 65 to 84 degrees) and dress accordingly. If we need to postpone the hike due to excessive rain or storms, we will email or call you two hours or more before the hike is set to commence.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED: The hike will be limited to the first 20 registrants. It is very important that you let us know you will be participating, so we can notify you if we need to change our plans due to bad weather or other circumstances. Register by emailing us at teasterday@iladdinc.org of your intent to go on the hike by August 15, 2024. If you have not previously completed the registration forms for the ILADD Hiking Club, you must complete and submit those forms by August 15, 2024. DIRECTIONS: (from Zionsville) The easiest route from Zionsville is to take Zionsville Road (which is Main Street in Zionsville) south to 71st Street. Turn right (west) and go past I-465 and I-65 until you enter the park. Eagle Creek Park is about 15 minutes from Zionsville.
