ILADD Family Connect - Promoting Independence- Review, Q& A
Date & Time: Thursday, February 17th from 6:30-8 pm
Location: Ascension St. Vincent Room at the Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 West Oak Street, Zionsville, Indiana
Description: Please join us for sharing and discussion. This Family Connect is a time to follow up and review questions from our Informational Workshop: Promoting Independence on February 17th.
We will discuss specific goals to help families and self-advocates create a plan for what their personal journey to greater independence might look like, which may include: learning how to prioritize goals, setting high expectations, utilizing community resources and connections, and more. The outcome for every self-advocate is to make everyday choices, develop their own routines, increase responsibilities, develop relationships with those around them and enjoy a lifestyle that matches their personal preferences. This discussion will provide some specific and practical strategies to increase independence.
Guest Speakers include Maggie Brown, Gwen Chesterfield, and Amanda Futrell. These speakers are all teachers from the IUPUI SITE program. Also speaking will be Kristy Hayes, Director of Services at Village of Merici, and Paula LeMaster, Community Development Representative at SafeinHome.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED: This event is free and a part of ILADD’s mission to help self-advocates along the path to greater independence. Register by emailing Michele Gray at program.manager@iladdinc.org
