About:
Based on our poll of ILADD Hiking Club Members, many of you want to hike on our normal weekend in June but prefer to avoid Father’s Day. Therefore, even though we know some of you will be unable to attend due to vacations and other conflicts, our next ILADD Hiking Club hike is scheduled for Saturday, June 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis (note the change to Saturday due to Father’s Day on Sunday, June 20th).
The north entrance to Eagle Creek Park is on West 71st Street (just west of I-65 as you enter the park 71st Street becomes Eagle Creek Parkway). At the park’s gatehouse, you will need to pay a park entry fee ($6 per vehicle or $5 per vehicle if you are a Marion County resident; if you would like to be reimbursed by ILADD please get a receipt and give it to Tom Easterday). Then proceed to the Lilly Lake Shelter parking area (the same place we parked for the hike in April). We will meet there to begin the hike. Since we hiked on the northwest part of the park in April, we will be hiking in the southeast part of the park in June. Face masks are no longer required for outdoor activities, but feel free to wear a face mask if you desire to do so.
We will be hiking on a combination of trails for approximately three miles. The trails are rated as moderate. The average daily high temperature in Indianapolis in June is between 78 and 84 degrees. Be sure to bring water and sunscreen, watch the weather a few days before the hike for the actual forecast, and dress accordingly.
Please email us at teasterday@iladdinc.org if you will be going on the hike. For all of you who have not yet submitted your forms, but wish to participate in the hike on June 19th, please submit your forms to us by June 17th (see attached). If you have any questions, email or call (317) 873-2134.
The first four hikes have been great challenging, fun, good exercise, and fantastic weather. Hopefully, we can have another beautiful day on June 19th. Please let us know your ideas for future hikes.
Thank you. We look forward to a fun hike on Saturday, June 19th!
